My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 12/23/2010: Gia is a sweet 8-9 year old 6 lb little girl who is being fostered in Miami, FL.

Gia is an absolute doll! Her favorite pasttime is getting petted and giving kisses. She doesn't have an unfriendly bone in her body. She loves everyone she meets and isn't much of a barker. Gia had bladder stone surgery 2 weeks ago. Painful bladder stones made it impossible for Gia to empty her bladder. She would frequently pass small stones or crystals. OUCH! She's feeling 100% better now! Gia is now on a prescription food (available at many pet stores) and must not eat any human food or dog treats. The special food keeps Gia's body from forming crystals (which become stones).

Gia is crate trained and holds her urine for 8 hours when FM works. However, if she is out of the crate, sometimes she has an accident here or there. It is infrequent, but it is likely related to the chronic irritation the stones caused to her bladder and should improve with time. She is a loving little girl and loves to play fetch, LOVES to play with other dogs, and LOVES to go for walks! She wants a home so badly!

INITIAL BIO 12/6/2010: My name is Gia. I am an 8-9 year old little girl who is being fostered in Miami, FL. I weigh a thin 6.3 lbs (and should probably weigh around 7 lb) and was rescued from the shelter by my Foster Mommy.

When FM took me home she gave me a MUCH needed bath. She said that right away I looked like I felt better. I had lots of sticky burrs in my fur. (she told me I'm still going to get a fancy schmancy hairdo soon!) Then she noticed something. I pee peed on the floor and it was very bloody. She rushed me to the vet where they found that I have a bladder full of stones. They're irritating my bladder and making it hard for me to empty my bladder completely (I have to potty a lot right now) I will need to have surgery this week. She told me I’m getting spayed, a cystostomy (where they cut my bladder open and take out the stones) AND a dental cleaning! YIKES! Friday is going to be a big day for me. Please say some doggy prayers! Also, I am going to have to be on prescription doggy food for the rest of my life. It's not too pricey and you can get it at the store or the vet. BUT, no treats for me, K?

Also, my vet expenses are going to be a little bit high. Do you think you could help UYR pay for my care? I’ll be FURever grateful! FM says I'm a love muffin and that I am as sweet as pie! Though I'm not quite ready to be adopted, I should be ready by the end of the month. Maybe you want to be the first in line for me!? Thanks! xoxo - Gia
