I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Arnie is a 3-4 yr old chi/terrier mix weighing about 9 lbs. This little male is very loyal and will make a perfect best friend. He truly is focused on pleasing his person. He is going to be a fun dog to train since he is smart as a whip and motivated by food and praise! Arnie enjoys his walks at the off-leash dog park and when he runs, he is fast, fast, fast. This is a dog that would be a perfect hiking companion. Arnie is a calm dog that goes from running to napping with ease. He loves to be cuddled and cradled. BUT, if you ask him to go to his bed, he will give you the space you need. Arnie would be just as happy in a one-dog home since he is people-focused as he would be sharing his home with other dogs. He gets along with the other dogs in his foster home, as well as the resident cat.
We are posting him as "special needs" because he tends to be shy around strangers at first. He is actually very easy to foster but comes with a few "instructions." Arnie should be in an adult home and when introduced to strangers, Arnie does best if he is initially ignored and allowed to warm up on his own time. He responds well to positive reinforcement by his people. In light of his shyness, his social interactions in places like dog parks and other busy areas should be limited until he becomes more secure. Arnie plays a little hard to get at first but when he warms up -- boy does he warm up! He is the most loving, cuddly, sweet, kissy little guy out there. If Arnie could spend the entire day in your lap, he would be as happy as a clam. He's a bright fellow and is great with other dogs and we think he would be fine with a cat. He is potty trained and looking for his very own person to love!
