FOSTER LOCATION: Park City Utah
Ruger was found at the side of a canal in Idaho when he was approx 2-1/2 wks old! No mom or siblings in sight, we're not sure if he swam to the side or had just not fallen in yet. :(
Ruger is now approx. 4-1/2 months old and weighs 30 lbs and we have no idea what he is; possibly some sort of wire terrier and lab mix. He's a lover, cuddler and tries very hard to please. Knows sit, uses potty pads (if in same room), kennels wonderfully at night (no barking or whining), nondestructive...but we have a lots of toys to keep him occupied. While outside stays close to the foster house, hasn't shown an interest in wandering even with 20 acres to run on! Comes great when called, will "go outside" if in the garage and we need to close the garage door.
He has some kind of terrier in him, he is very soft. He's learning "stay down" - typical excitement when we've been gone, but we're teaching him not to jump on people. Also working on lay down and roll over. He is one very smart and sweet boy!
He's really mellow considering he's a pup. Doesn't bark at strangers, great with kids (don't know about babies tho), ignores the cat and horses, great with other dogs except I would keep him away from dogs under 10-15 lbs. He fostered with 3 lb chihuahuas but once he grew bigger they were too delicate to play with like he wants to. Oh, and gets along great with chickens. Very non aggressive. I think he has great potential to be a therapy dog. He loves meeting new people and acts extremely socialized.
