My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Chase is a pretty light sable Sheltie boy who bonds closely to his human and wants to be near his person. He is a wonderful companion and fun to have as a friend.

AGE: About 3 years old
SIZE: Approximately 14 inches tall and 20 lbs.
TEMPERAMENT: Chase is cautious around new people and has a very soft temperament. He prefers women to men but given time will accept men. He likes to follow his person and be at your feet. He enjoys his toys and bones.
FENCE: A secure fence (wood or chain link) with direct access from the house is required for Chase. He needs a place to run and play where he is safe.
DOGS: Chase gets along with the other dogs of various breeds and sizes in his foster home. In the past, he has had some issues with certain dogs and seemed to do better with female dogs.
CATS: Chase is fine with the cats in his foster home.
KIDS: Unknown-there are no children in his foster home. He may do o.k. with respectful, older children, but is not suitable for a home with children under the age of 12 years.
CRATE TRAINED: Chase is crate trained, and will go in it when asked.
HOUSETRAINED: Chase is housetrained when on a schedule.
OBEDIENCE TRAINING: Chase has good house manners. He sits, comes, lies down on command, and walks on a leash. He has had no formal obedience training. He has a very soft temperament and will need someone who uses positive reinforcement with him.
LEASH MANNERS: Chase walks on a leash without pulling, and really enjoys being out and about.
CAR RIDES: Chase enjoys going in the car and will hop in on his own.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Chase is really laid back once he has had some playtime. He plays with the Sheltie in his foster home but will lay at your feet waiting to follow you around the house.
BARKING: Chase understands "No bark" and is not overly vocal for a Sheltie.
HEALTH ISSUES: No known health issues.
EXPERIENCED HOME: Chase is an easy dog to have around. He does best with consistency and a structured environment so he knows what to expect and what is expected of him. As with any Sheltie, he responds well to positive reinforcement and guidance.

Chase is a delightful companion. He has the energy of a 2 year old dog but is also content to stay by your feet. He craves positive attention and a single "No" usually corrects any transgressions. He will bond quickly and one lucky person or family will have a remarkable companion.

For more information on our adoption process (which includes an application, references and a home visit prior to meeting dogs) or to see other Shelties available for adoption, please visit our website at http://www.mnsheltierescue.org, or contact us for the adoption application. Chase's adoption fee is $300.00, and he is neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative (during heartworm season), microchipped, has been bathed and brushed, etc.

All of our dogs are indoor dogs and are not to be left outside unattended (not even in a fenced yard), if the adopter is not at home.
