My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 2/5/2011: Baxter is an adorable 4 year ols 12.5 lb little guy who is being fostered in Palm Coast, FL.

Baxter is doing very well in his foster mom. His FM is giving him all the TLC he can handle and is soaking it up like a sponge. This poor guy is a little timid when meeting new people. He is learning what it's like to be loved. He is also making great strides in the housetraining department. Baxter would do best in an adult-only household that has terrier experience. He also has let his Foster Mom know that while he sometimes likes to play with his foster brother (and he'd likely have fun in a local dog park or dog run), he would prefer not to share his castle with any other yorkies. He wants to be your main squeeze!!!

If Baxter sounds like the boy for you, please let us know! Thanks for looking!

UPDATED BIO 1/30/2011: Baxter is a gorgeous 4 year old 12 lb little boy who is now in his new foster home in Palm Coast, FL. He had a full pre-anesthetic workup including labwork, a full exam, dental cleaning under anesthesia, and to top it off - he got his hair 'did!

Here is what we've learned about Baxter so far. Well, this little guy is just craving love and affection. He's a little timid of new people at first, but once he gets to know you, he's a mushpot. Baxter is protective of his belongings like treats and food, and he will guard them. He also doesn't love to have his face touched (but his foster mom schmoozed him into letting her trim up his face a little bit the day he arrived). Baxter is a sweetheart, but it does seem like he's just not used to being loved. He is learning VERY quickly what it's like. He's sleeping in bed with his foster family. He's playing a little bit with the other male dog in the home. He absolutely LOVS his foster daddy and sits in his lap while he works on the computer. Baxter would do very well with an experienced dog owner and confident leader to be able to show Baxter what is expected from him and show him how to be a beloved pet! Stay tuned for more updates on this little guy! We are so grateful that we were able to take this neglected little guy and give him a fresh start! Because of his timid nature, Baxter must be adopted to an adult only household.

INITIAL BIO 1/20/2011: My name is Baxter. I am about 4 years old and weigh 12 lbs. I was found as a stray and rescued by UYR when the shelter couldn't locate my family. I am being fostered temporarily in Boynton Beach, but I'm heading up to my "permanent" foster home in Palm Coast, FL real soon!

Foster mom is just getting to know me; so, we'll keep it short. She says I get along well with the other furkids. I'm a sweetie once I get to know you, but that I get skeered at first that you're gonna hurt me. Then I'm a big mushpot and roll over and show you my belly. We think no kids though. I've been good about doing my business outside, and I'm getting a hairdo' and my toofers cleaned this week. Then I'll be good to go! Could I be the little boy you've been waiting for?
