DRAKE***CONTACT ELLEN doubledogellen@att.net****DRAKE, our lovable 3 yr. old, 90 lb.Black Labrador Retriever mix. We feel after meeting Drake that there just might be a bit of Newfoundland in his family tree!!! Drake has one of the sweetest temperaments we have ever found in a dog. We received a call asking for our help when due to the death of Drakes owner we were asked to please help find Drake a wonderful home where he would be loved. Drake and his brother were orphans and needed our help. While a family member was able to take his brother, poor Drake was sent to a high-kill shelter where his life was about to end. When we heard about this sweet pup we were on our way within minutes to help!!! Luckily some guardian angels stepped in and noticed what an amazing dog Drake was and called us. We're happy to report that Drake is safely in the arms of a loving foster family while we search for his forever family.
This easy going, gentle, lucky guy is enjoying all sorts of new experiences as he settles into his foster home. He gets along well with other dogs, and now we know that he isn't the least bit interested in cats. He has even quickly adapted to car rides and loves the wind blowing in his ears! Just open the car door and in Drake will hop, he will find his seat just ready for his next adventure. He loves spending time with you and your family, including belly rubs and brushing. He is very inquisitive, but always wants you to go first, he seems to delight in knowing that he has pleased the most important person in the world to him---you!!!!! He will make an awesome lifelong companion!
He loves to play ball and has become quickly attached to his bright red Kong. Drake thoroughly enjoys playing in the water and getting baths after all he is the combination of two water loving breeds. There is one very important point about Drake- he is an active dog who loves but most of all requires daily exercise in order to remain calm and obedient. He would be an excellent walking buddy as this grand pup is in terrific shape and will match you step for step.The number one success factor in adoptions is exercise and training, so we are looking for a family who is willing to make a commitment to both. remember "A tired dog is a well behaved dog"
