My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

4/17/11 - I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!

Adoption Fee: $350

Fostered in Louisiana

Age: 4.5 years

Weight: 9.5 lbs.

ADOPTION APPLICATION REQUIRED:

3/17/11 - Delilah was recently spayed and had her dental. While under anesthesia, the vet flushed her eye to see if this help. He still is not seeing enough tear production, so change her eye medication and may recommend her to an ophthalmologist if this does not remedy this soon.

Her personality in her foster home is starting to show more and we are learning that Delilah is a rough playing girl. No lady here. She can sometimes get persnickity with the other fosters in the home, so may be a good only dog. It is not unbearable with another dog if she were to get an alpha owner, as she is submissive. She gets a little jealous if another dog is getting attention and runs over to make sure she isn’t missing out on anything. Delilah loves having her people around and, although she doesn’t have separation anxiety, hates to see her people leave.

She is a little lover and deserves a home that can love her like a lady, but keep up with her tomboy antics.

2/15/11 - My foster mom and dad think I'm going to need some security in the form of bodyguards. They (and I) think I am absolutely beautiful, my facial features and coloring are perfect and people will be falling all over themselves to adopt me and I’m just not going to be able to handle all the attention alone. So, I'm interviewing for a couple bodyguards to be at my side 24/7 to make sure I'm not harrassed. My last bodyguards failed me big time since their idea of protecting me was placing me in the backyard all day and night. Guess they thought that all my fans were “inside” the house and I’d be safer “outside” the house. I, of course, am going to be very picky in my selection, so if you would be so kind as to fill out an application, my people will let you know if you get the job. I pay well in kisses, and my benefit package is off the charts.

I was never spayed previously and am currently in heat and wearing diapers. Don’t laugh - humans come in this world wearing diapers and leave this world wearing them. I’m just using them for now to protect the furniture. Once I’m able to be spayed, I will shed them quicker than a snake sheds it’s skin. Since I used to life outside, potty training is new to me and once my diapers are gone, foster mom and I will start working on my ability to not go in my house (unless on a pee pad).

My foster parents have learned that these legs aren’t made just for walking. I am quite the springy little lady. I can jump over a babygate, onto a tall bed straight from the floor without a running start and will make every attempt to run out of a door that is even cracked. To this end, I will need a securely fenced in backyard when out doing my business and an agile owner in case the UPS man rings the doorbell and you forget to pick me up first.

I am a loveable baby that wants lots of attention and love to get belly rubs. I will jump onto the sofa or bed and roll onto my back or will plop onto the floor wherever you are standing begging for belly rubs. I do not mind other pets, am not anxious or overly energetic and am not a huge barker. I just want attention and to be loved. I know no other way to describe myself except for “a perfect companion”.

I had my first vet appointment recently, and the vet said that I have an ulcer in my left eye that has gone untreated for a while. I knew something didn’t feel right when my eye kept getting gook in it and it felt better to close it than to have it open. He thinks that my tear duct may be a little clogged and will flush it out later when I am under anesthesia undergoing my spay and dental. He gave me some medicine for the infection and inflammation in my eye and some eye drops for the ulcer. Hopefully these wonder drugs will help and I’ll be good as new soon. Thank goodness my foster parents are taking care of all my needs. They are the best and they’ve promised me that I’ll soon be in a home that will love me forever.

So, if you are interested in being my protector and guardian, apply now.
