UPDATE 3/2011: Abbie has gained a healthy amount of weight since coming into rescue that now she looks beautiful! People who meet her cannot believe this is the same dog that was a walking skeleton only weeks ago. She underwent her spay surgery and is fully cleared and ready to be adopted! Since recovering from her surgery, she is enjoying daily romps, tossing around her favorite fuzzy toy or chasing a tennis ball. She is such a happy girl, her tail never stops wagging. She is a wonderfully sweet dog that is easy going and just happy to be hanging out with people. She is very low key, not a big barker, and just a pleasure to be with. If she sounds like the dog of your dreams, and we dont know how she could not be, then please contact us to meet her.
UPDATE 2/21/2011: Abbie has been vetted for her malnourishment and for intestional parasites. She is doing great, and is now at a healthy weight. She clearly feels so much better as she runs, plays and loves to roll in grass and leaves at every opportunity. She was introduced to several dogs and seems like she is fine to go to a home either without other dogs, or with other dogs. She is more on the mellow side and a very high energy canine companion may be a bit too much for her, but a lower energy dog is fine. She is going to the vet to be spayed this week. After that, she is ready to meet her forever home. Is that you????
Meet Abbie. She is the Mom of a litter of puppies that we rescued from a shelter that was unable to care for them. She is a lab/boxer mix, approximately 2 years old. She and her pups came from a very poor rural area and was very malnourished. She is gaining weight quickly and looks amazing. She, like her pups, was loaded with intestinal parasites and after sevarl rounds of de-worming medication, she is now parasite free.
Abbie is very people-oriented, bonding quickly with her caregivers. She wants to be by your side at all times. She is beginning to play bow and run and play. She chases a tennis ball now and brings it right back for you to throw it again for her. She walks great on a leash, again not leaving your side.

She is housebroken and knows sit and paw. She can catch treats in mid-air. She is absolutely one of the very sweetest dogs we’ve had in Fassa’s Friends. She is current on her vaccines and will be spayed within the next week or two. Though she hasn’t been dog tested yet, given her calm, friendly disposition, we don’t feel the company of another dog would be problematic for her. We will be dog-testing her very shortly and will update you.
