My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*******IMPORTANT****** IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ONE OF OUR DOGS PLEASE VISIT OUR WEBSITE AND FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICATION. AFTER WE HAVE AN APPLICATION ON FILE WE WILL COMMUNICATE SPECIFICS ABOUT THAT PARTICULAR DOG. WE ARE A SMALL RESCUE, OVERWHELMED BY THE NUMBER OF DOGS WE HAVE IN OUR FOSTER PROGRAM AND ARE UNABLE TO ANSWER OR CALL UNTIL WE HAVE AN ADOPTION APPLICATION
Scrappy is a very sweet 6 year old neutered male, owner surrender. Scrappy's had a rough time of it the last few years. He was purchased 3 years ago by an elderly, wheelchair bound woman who did not have the means or the physical ability to care for Scrappy. She wasn't even able to bathe him. He was rescued by a kind couple in south georgia approx 5 months ago. Scrappy had no fur, multiple skin, ear and eye infections and was unable to walk. Despite their best intentions and considerable expense, they came to the end of the road with what vet care was available to them in their small town. Eventhough they loved Scrappy very much, they knew he couldn't get what he needed AND he needed to be well.
Scrappy is at our vet being evaluated, so that appropriate treatment for his skin condition can begin. He is UTD on shots, neutered.
Update: Scrappy has been in my home for the last 2 months and has made tremendous progress. He is a one in a million boy. His fur will never be thick and his diet will still have to be monitored closely for allergy but he has made great strides. Scrappy is very well behaved and knows doggy ettiquette. He currently lives with 3 other dogs without one instance of problem, even a territorial Australian Shepherd. What he lacks in beauty, he more than makes up for in love. Actually, I think he looks pretty darn cute!!!!
Update: Scrappy has done very well as a foster in my home while we continued to work on his skin issues. Unfortunately, 4 weeks ago Scrappy fell ill with infections in his elbow joints. He was very ill and in tremendous pain. He was evaluated by our vet, but when he took a turn for the worse, was evaluated at GVS emergency hospital, kept overnight and evaluated by the Orthopedic surgeon. He is now on long term antibiotic therapy, 4 weeks so far. He is now able to walk again, but only madatory walking. He will be on antibiotics for another 2 weeks.
This round of vet bills cost $2500.00. If you can find it in your wallet and heart, please consider donating to help Scrappy. Scrappy was terrribly neglected ALL of his life, he deserves to have several more years pain and itch free.
