My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Josh is a beautiful purebred bluetick coonhound who is about 5 months old. He is very friendly, affectionate, and playful! He is so adorable - he is a 45lb lap dog. Young coonhounds are so lanky... While Josh can just step up onto the couch, sometimes he acts like he isn't sure what to do with those long legs and huge feet. Typical coonhound, he always makes us laugh by rolling around, pawing at us to pet him or doing something goofy - just take a look at the way he sleeps!

Josh is a very smart boy who already knows how to "sit" and will do so automatically before receiving his meals. He is fine in his crate, though prefers the couch! He was very easy to house train and is the youngest dog we have ever been able to leave loose in the house over night and while we are gone for a few hours. He is a very well behaved young gentleman.

Josh gets along great with other dogs and enjoys kissing the cats (though, they are not that fond of that habit). He enjoys human attention as well as his toys.

Josh is about 20 inches high at the shoulders and 47 lbs. He will probably be around 60 lbs when full grown.

Josh's right eye is very swollen due to what is probably congenital cateracts and is now very advanced glacoma . He is blind in that eye and it will be removed when he gets neutered. Donations for his surgery are encouraged! This small handicap does not keep him from running, playing or snuggling. He can see fine out of his left eye and can get around just fine.

Though they may be calm indoors, coonhounds thrive with active families who will keep them busy with hiking, biking, jogging, and similar activities. A tired hound is a good hound :)

Josh will be ready for his new home at the end of December!

Can't take him home, but want to help? Try a Virtual Adoption!! Donate any amount towards Josh's vetcare and you will be listed as a sponsor and receive a sponsorship certificate suitable for framing!
