My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Catz Jazz Rescue assists as many unfortunate & abandoned cats as possible, while advocating the message of compassion towards animals and responsible pet ownership. Catz Jazz strives to be one of the best Austin cat rescue operations by providing comfort & care for each and every animal coming into our rescue with consideration of their individual situations. Our goal is to find life-long companions for the rescued cats in our care.

Read about Sheba:

Sheba is coated in the lovely colors of Fall with her ginger fur patches and brindle pattern!

Sheba is a Tortoiseshell cat, which is not a breed, but a colour; linking coat to very particular personality traits that many describe as "Tortitude".

Torties have a reputation of having an attitude, or "tortitude". And while Torties are quite impish and curious, these cats are often also playful and entertaining, and very loving.

Sheba is no exception as she is sweet, huggable, lap kitty, that loves to spend time with her humans whether that be snuggling or playing, as she also is an active feline who appreciates interactive play, especially with feather toys like Da Bird.

Sheba, like all Tortoiseshell cats, has a wonderful Tortie Personality, and is on the small side.

She's not an obsessive talker, though she will chatter with you, and if you haven't had the pleasure of a morning chat with a resident tortie, then maybe it's time to become a slave to the tortie!

Edgar Allen Poe was devoted to his tortoiseshell cat, "Catarina". It's said she inspired him and also sat with his wife during her illness and frequently sat on his shoulder when he wrote.

Torties love their humans very much and if well-treated, will reward you many times over with their devotion.

Come meet Sheba, she is ready to find her soulmate!

From our very first meeting she was an absolute angel and continues to win us over daily with her sweet nature and gentle disposition despite whatever previous abuse and/or neglect she suffered prior to being euthanasia-bound.

This tender orange tabby is so friendly and unselfish, she even let two 10 week old kittens whom she had never met before cuddle up beside her and never once complained!

She has very recently been spayed and is in great health, so her next adventure will be to meet her loving, forever family.

If you have been on the search to provide a home to a terrific cat that truly has a wonderful disposition and just wants to enjoy life with you, you need look no further as Sheba is the sweetest orange tabby gal this side of the Mississippi!

I'm at ♫ CatzJazz.org ♫!

Sheba's estimated D.O.B. is April 29, 2010
Dated added: 5/4/11 Photos current as of: 5/4/11

Sheba has passed a vet exam, is up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccinations, has been treated for any medical needs, given preventative treatment for internal parasites/fleas, has tested negative for FeLV/FIV, is litter-box trained and has been spayed. Now she just needs a forever home!

Please be advised that interested adopters go through a careful screening process to include reference checks, telephone interviews, in-person interview and home visits. It is our responsibility to ensure that the kitty's adopting family will always be committed to taking care of the adopted animal not just during it's cute phases but during unpleasant situations as well - if and when health or behavior problems develop over time (and they may), and that the cat is not being adopted on an impulse or will be discarded if their human gets tired of them. We genuinely care about the lives we have saved and want our rescued cats to to end up in a great forever home… our mechanism of careful screening is there to increase the chances of this happening. Be prepared for a thorough interview and really be SURE that you are ready to make a lifetime commitment and to emotionally, physically and financially support a companion animal through rain or shine.

Baby, let's paint the town! Donate a Kuranda cat bed
Donate a Kuranda Bed to Catz Jazz Rescue

If you can't adopt Sheba, would you consider donating a Kuranda cat bed to her while she waits for her forever person to find her?

Our rescued cats love to sleep on Kuranda cat beds because of their orthopedic comfort and we love them because they are stackable, allowing high perches for shy cats while increasing the amount of floor space, but due to our already constricted operating budget, we just don't have enough for everyone to sleep on.

When you donate a Kuranda cat bed to us, you will give an Austin rescue cat a place to sleep in comfort and have a bed to dream on while they patiently wait for their forever home.

We also gratefully accept donations of much-needed items from our
Catz Jazz Wish List.

Thank you so much for helping us out.

Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated.

♥ Help Chris get treatment! ♥

URGENT!! A RESCUE VOLUNTEER NEEDS EMERGENCY HELP! Please help our wish for him to come true.

A husband, father, brother, friend, and neighbor who lives in our community, is in dire need of our immediate help! At the beginning of July 2010, Chris Blankinship, a trusted and caring volunteer with Catz Jazz Rescue, was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma (grade III). This is a rare (about 4% of the population), life-threatening, rapidly-growing, malignant tumor. Due to the nature of this specific tumor and it's location, the only available treatment possibilities are very limited clinical trials (experimental treatments) for chemo and radiation treatment possibilities that will easily exceed the tens of thousands of dollars mark. We believe that with prayers, positive energy and strong willpower, and the financial help from compassionate supporters who are sympathetic to his plight, we can give Chris a chance to opt for those treatment possibilities, but time is of the essence! Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is so greatly appreciated by his friends and family. We humbly ask for your support. Can you please help?
