My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jewel is a beautiful girl with a long, lean body and gorgeous sea-green eyes. She is about two years old.

Jewel’s sleek and shiny coat is a mix of orange and brown tabby colors, with a bit of white on her face and that stunning black “nose liner”. With her graceful, agile movements, and the lynx-like tufts at the tips of her ears, Jewel looks like she just wandered in from the savannah where the wild cats live.

But unlike those big cats, Jewel loves people. She is very interested in what her people are doing, and will follow her foster mom from room to room, eager to monitor all activities, and offer assistance as needed. She is affectionate and enjoys being petted and groomed. She tolerates being picked up, but like most cats, she will soon begin to wiggle and ask to be let down. She likes a lap, but more often will want to curl up nearby where she can keep an eye on things. She is a confident girl with a mind of her own, but is never mean or snippy. When she is quite content, her delicate little purr is a delight.

Jewel’s prior home contained a few too many dogs and cats, and although she apparently tolerated them all, we know she’d prefer to have less competition and craziness in her forever home. She tends to dominate the other cats in her foster home, but enjoys playing with them, so we think she would do best with a playful cat buddy who will let her be the boss. Well-mannered dogs should be fine. She hasn’t been tested with small kids, but we suspect she’d do fine as long as the kids are respectful and understand she doesn’t want to be picked up and lugged around like a stuffed bear.

And Jewel loves toys! Things that roll, fly, crinkle, crunch, and wiggle—all good! She wants some play time with her people every day, but she’s also very good at amusing herself by carrying her toys around and stashing them in her special kitty tent. She also loves her perch by the window where she can keep an eye on bird and squirrel activity. Jewel has excellent house and litter box manners, and she expects to be welcome on the furniture, and wants to sleep on the bed with her people.

Jewel, like all ARCF cats for adoption, has been spayed, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines, and has tested negative for FeLV and FIV.
