My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

update 7-19-11: Honor is ready for her forever home. Her ears look great, she is really starting to show her personality. She barks and does a little dance when her foster mom comes home she is so excited to see her. She behaves like a dream in the house and doesn't need to be crated when home alone but will hang in the crate if needed. She will curl up in her foster mom's lap or lay on a bed in the floor and is happy in either place. If you have a pile of laundry that needs fluffed, Honor is your girl as she is often found buried in a pile of clothes. Honor is an easy keep for anyone from the first time schnauzer person to the experienced.

Update 6-28-11: Look out everyone! Honor had her second visit with the vet, got to take her cone off and can HEAR! yea! She is so excited to have that horrible cone off after wearing it for two weeks. she has been cleared by the vet and is now ready for her forever home. Special ear cleaning instructions will come with her so that damage is not done to the ear canal but it is extremely easy to do. Pictures coming soon of this precious girl. She is starting to show some of her quirky little personality now that she can interact with everyone. She is still a very easy keeper, loves to snuggle and is developing a belief that she is a princess but her foster home has no idea how that is happening! Are you ready to continue this little princess' care?

update 6-20-11: Honor has had surgery on her ears and is at the vet for her one week check up currently. Reports are they are healing nicely. she still has at least another week of recovery but once she is cleared from the vet, she will be ready to go home. This little girl is a dream schnauzer. She is house trained, crated trained, although she doesn't need to use it, rarely barks, just wants to snuggle and is happy to just be with you. After grooming she has turned more to a silver with some black spots. She did extremely well during her grooming session. She has never had an accident in the house since entering foster care. She would be perfect in an apartment or home and for a low activity family or elderly couple that just wants company. Does your couch have room for this little girl?

Update 5-28-11: after seeing the vet, we have found that Honor's ears can be fixed. It is going to cost us around $900 to do so. It requires an extensive surgery but afterwards her quality of life will be greatly improved and she will be able to HEAR! As soon as we get some of the money raised, Honor will be scheduled for surgery if interested in helping, let us know.

Honor is a black miniature schnauzer that was transferred to our rescue to make room for dogs at the Joplin Humane Society. she has seen the vet, had her teeth cleaned, been brought current on her shots and moved to a foster home. So far she appears house trained, loves to cuddle in your lap and is very easy going. she is guessed to be around 6-7 years old. she does have significant scarring in her ears from past ear infections and does appear hard hearing. If you are interested in a low energy, snuggely schnauzer to keep you company, Honor is the girl for you!
