Duke, Duke, Duke, Duke of Earl, Duke Duke..... and just like the lyrics of his namesake, this boy promises to love you forever and nothing can stop him! He is one gorgeous and sweet 60 lb lap dog!
Poor Duke was abandoned and hooked up with 2 stray females who had his puppies (thankfully all 3 have now been fixed and that won’t be happening again!) and were then dumped as well. He was a perfect gentleman, protecting his lady friends and scooting them with his nose out of the street, risking getting hit himself. All of the neighborhood children knew him because he waited for them to come home from school at the bus stop – he absolutely adores children. Sadly, some teenagers thought it was fun to use the stray dogs as target practice with their BB guns and Duke would go in front of his girlfriends and take the hits.
A kind family cared for them, pulling pellets out of his skin. He has a few minor scars and spots of hair loss, but amazingly has not lost his love for 2 legged humans. His rescuers have a full house of pets themselves and asked for our help. After threats from people of putting antifreeze in his water, one of our volunteers took him off of the streets into her home to keep him safe.
He is very submissive and gentle and gets along well with all animals. He has alluring hazel caramel eyes that draw you into his gaze, and one has a speck of blue in it. He has an adorable pink and black nose. Duke follows his foster mom around, loves to give sloppy kisses, and rolls over for belly rubs. He likes to chew on nylabones, be brushed, herd his people, is crate trained and housebroken. New things at first like car rides, baths, and noises from vacuums, can make him a little nervous and pant, but given attention and assurance he is willing to go anywhere you are! Duke is HW negative (yea!) and is on prevention, has been dewormed, microchipped, and is UTD on vaccinations.
