My story

Duster is a very sweet, playful and incredibly good-natured Black Lab/Terrier mix. He is 4 years old and weighs 65 pounds. He is such an affectionate boy with a very happy and fun personality! Delightful Duster loves people of all ages including small children. He gives kisses and is fantastic with all other dogs. He is okay in a household with dog-friendly cats that enjoy his enthusiasm. Some less dog-experienced cats may consider him a pest. He rides well in the car, walks well on leash, knows the commands sit and down, and takes treats very gently from your fingers. He is a smart boy and a quick learner who will do anything for a treat. Duster is perfectly housebroken and crate-trained. His tail is always happily wagging, and he is full of loving kisses. He enjoys leaning against you, looking adoringly into your eyes and rolling over for belly rubs.

Duster is extremely healthy, neutered, heartworm-tested, micro-chipped, and up-to-date on rabies and distemper vaccines. Duster is in a foster home in Chicagoland and would love to have a loving forever home to call his own. To meet and possibly adopt him, please contact Melia at to get an adoption application emailed to you. His adoption donation of $200 benefits the rescued dogs of Lucky Dog Rescue.

Their adoption process

Additional adoption info

The adoption fee for each of the dogs is $200.00. That is to cover the cost of getting the animal spayed/neutered, HW tested and completely UTD on vaccinations. An adoption application can be obtained by contacting us by email at Once the application has been received and reviewed, a meet and greet will be arranged with your family and the dog you are interested in. A home visit will also be done prior to any adoption being completed.

All of these dogs are currently located in foster homes or paid boarding either in Chicago, IL or surrounding areas. An appointment can be made to view any of the animals at the convenience of the potential adopter and the foster.

More about this rescue

We are a very small group of independent dog rescuers. All of the dogs that are available for adoption were saved from needlessly being euthanized in high kill shelters. Once a dog is brought into our care, it receives all of the vetting that is necessary including a spay/neuter surgery, HW test, and vaccinations. A foster home is then provided for the dog until a forever adoptive home can be found. When a foster home is not available, the dogs will be placed in paid boarding until they are adopted.
