My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Description: Those of you who remember the 80’s TV series, “Charlie’s Angels” will definitely see the resemblance between the show’s star, Farah Fawcett, and our Charlie. Okay, our Charlie is a boy (and a dog), but one look at his gorgeous, flowing coat and you will realize that the TV star has nothing on our guy when it comes to hair and glamour!

When Charlie first came to us, however, he was anything but Hollywood material. A Good Samaritan in the Walker, Minnesota area found him, lost and alone, and took him in while she tried to find his people. An extensive search turned up nothing, so she eventually surrendered him to MWCR. Since then, he has been vetted, groomed and put on a healthy diet to help him gain weight, and he is now the handsome boy that you see in the pictures.

Charlie is a very good boy who is fully housetrained and lets his family know when he needs to go out by barking. He is not destructive in the house and has been left alone (with his feline and canine companions) without incident. He does like to check out the counter tops, but “hey, sometimes there’s banana bread up there!” Charlie’s foster family takes him for walks on a long leash, and he is good about staying close and coming when called. He knows a variety of commands, including: sit, stay, shake, down, off, come and no bark. He is a smart, eager-to-please guy who would make an excellent candidate for agility training.

Charlie is a happy, loving collie who gets along beautifully with everyone (human, canine and feline) at his foster home. He loves to play with the neighborhood children (ages 7 and 8), but might be a bit too rough-and-tumble for toddlers. He is best buddies with the resident dogs even though he likes to sneak a bite or two of their food when they aren’t looking and sometimes steals his foster sister’s favorite chew toy. He loves the kitties and even gets along with the notoriously grouchy “Black Kitty,” who responds to Charlie’s affectionate overtures with growls and hisses.

In the evenings, Charlie likes to lie on the couch beside his foster mom and rest his head in her lap while she strokes him. He is very cuddly and demonstrative. Sometime during the night, she will wake up to find Charlie standing quietly beside her with his nose just inches from hers as if to reassure himself that she is still there. This is an extremely loving and devoted boy.

Charlie’s ideal forever home would include either another dog or a kitty to keep him company when his human family was not around. Although his foster home does not include a fenced yard, Charlie is an energetic collie who would either need a fence or frequent walks and trips to the dog park. He would love to have older children to run and play with.

So, as you can see, our Charlie may not be a girl and may not be a Hollywood star, but he is definitely and angel.
