My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Farrah has many more videos on our youtube site: http://www.youtube.com/user/ToughLovePitRescue

Meet the beautiful Farrah Pawcett! She may not be blonde, but she certainly is a bombshell! Farrah is a large, solid girl, weighing in at 80 pounds. She is about 2 or 3 years old. She has a beautiful brindle coat with adorable white socks and chest! This girl is gorgeous!

Farrah adores people. She is incredibly loyal, devoted and focused on her foster mom. She is a big lap dog and will take any opportunity to crawl into your lap for a snuggle. She adores human attention of any kind and loved being petted. Her joy really is being with her people. She hasn't been around children yet, but given her love of people, I think kids would be fine -- of course, individual introductions would be necessary.

Farrah is incredibly, incredibly smart. In less than a week she learned her name, to sit, to lie down, to "touch", to drop it, to take it, to beg, to crawl, to shake, and to come when called. She's also working on her loose leash walking and doing great. Farrah is very food motivated and eager to please, and she is such fun to train! Farrah has been taught using Nothing in Life is Free, and is required to "sit" before getting meals, going outside, getting out of her crate, or being petted.

Farrah loves to play with her toys -- her favorites are her nylabone, her rawhide, any ball, and her rope toy. She fetches well and loves to play tug. I've taught her to "drop it" when I'm done playing tug, as she is quite strong and I have yet to win a tug game with her! She is excellent at responding to this command. Despite being playful and fun, Farrah isn't super high energy. She spends much of her time snoozing in sun beams or snuggling against my legs as I work.

Farrah is unsure around other dogs. She can be in their vicinity and still respond to me, and she will lie down and expose her tummy for petting, but she is not comfortable with dogs in what she considers her space (e.g. near her crate). Thus, at this point, I'd like to place her as an only dog with an owner experienced with handling large breed dogs who can work with her to help her feel comfortable with canine friends. Farrah met a cat while still at the shelter and she ignored that cat, so it is possible she could live with a kitty friend.

Even though Farrah doesn't love other dogs, I guarantee her other traits more than make up for this. She is one of the best dogs I've had in my program. Her absolute loyalty and devotion to the humans she loves is completely charming. I just love her and I hope soon we can find a family who will love her forever.

Farrah has been spayed and it up to date on vaccines. Her adoption fee is $150. Please contact gemmazanowski@gmail.com to request an application.
