My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Rocinante (pronounced row-seen-ahn-tey)! Rocin is our idea of a breed representative and very much like the other dogs we select for our program in these respects friendly to all he meets, great with other dogs, and a total lover. The only thing aggressive about Rocin is his snuggling : ) He just loves a good snuggle and will definitely be happy to share your bed at night. Rocin is being fostered with our very own pit bull whisperer, Kris so he will have the best foundation any pit bull could hope to have! The more we get to know this dog, the more we can say, he is just GOLD. He has everything you'd want in a dog, and nothing you wouldn't!

Rocin came to us from a high-kill county shelter where he was scheduled to be put down that evening because hed developed kennel cough. Weve cured his cough and hes looking for his perfect forever home.

Rocin is likely mostly pittie, but we see a bit of something else in him - he is tall, slimmer in the face, and has a different tail. Rocin is blue in color and weighs 49 pounds, but needs to gain about 10, so he should be a mid-sized dog of around 60 pounds. Rocin is about 2 years old, non-destructive, mellow indoors, and fairly low-maintenance. He knows how to use a doggie door.

He is a pretty fearless dude after seeing his foster siblings swimming in the pool, he jumped right in! Apparently Rocin cant swim too well though so he had to be rescued by foster dad : ) Rocin possesses no aggressive inclincations whatsoever. His foster sister decided to bully him the other day, and he just stood there like nothing was happening. He is absolutely non-reactive. He has not barked yet, either. Rocin is extremely responsive to verbal commands, recalling instantly when told to do so.

Rocin has been very easy to train -- he is a lightning fast study. He learned "sit" after just a couple tries...and unsatisfied that the treats stopped coming, he followed his foster dad out of the room -- while still sitting! We aren't sure how he managed this feat; it was a strange sort of duck walk, and very hilarious! We love this guy! He walks great on a leash -- keeps the lead nice and slack.

Rocin has been nothing but great with the three other pit bulls in his foster home he wants to play with them, but they arent terribly convinced of this idea yet. Rocin would enjoy having a doggie pal for sure! He met kitties at the vets office and totally ignored him, so were willing to bet he can live with a kitty friend as well.

Rocins just a great dude. He loves everyone and everything. He flew through our extensive temperament evaluation and he has zero issues. Hed be a wonderful family pet. And, as the icing on the cake, he is a stunning boy with striking coloring.

Rocin is up to date on his vaccines and neutered. We require a completed application before any adoption will be considered. Please call or email to request an application. Rocin's adoption fee is $150
