Want a special and unique dog?! Look no further!! Tripod got his name because he’s a tripod! That’s right, this boy only has 3 legs – don’t let that stop you from considering him because it doesn’t stop him from enjoying everything life has to offer. He came in to a high kill shelter with an injured left elbow that just wasn’t healing so after some time the vet decided Tripod would be better off without the leg which also meant no more pain from the injured elbow. He has had his front, left leg amputated, he is fully healed. Tripod dogs can do just as much as any other 4-leggeded dog some are even escape artists (not this guy though), amazing jumpers or swimmers! This friendly boy is good with other dogs, cats and respectful kids. He is crate trained, house trained and fine to be left alone for typical 9-5 work hours. Being a Lab of course everyone is there to meet him so he isn’t much of a watch dog beyond an initial warning bark. Tripod has adjusted to being on 3 legs and walks perfectly fine. He has no pain just a zest for life. Tripod loves to play fetch, he will even play fetch with himself, he loves toys. He also likes to play chase with the other dogs. He is still getting used to life with 3 legs and may need a lift getting in or out of the car but he still loves car rides. This pup is truly amazing and he is just a joy to watch when he’s tossing himself a ball, racing around with the other dogs or playing with a stuffy toy. We’d really like to see Tripod in a house with a fenced yard.
