My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

To know Chief is to love him, and his super sweet nature is exactly what saved his life! His owner took him to a local vet and when he tested positive for heart worms the owner couldn't or wouldn't pay for his treatment and abandoned him there. The vet's office didn't want to see such a wonderful dog put down so they decided to go ahead and start him on treatment and contact GPRO for help.

Chief loves everyone he meets including kids, other dogs and he is also cat friendly. He is between 2-3 years old, neutered and utd on vaccinations and dewormed. Chief has an old injury to one of his rear legs that he never received treatment for so it's left him with a permanent limp, but causes him no health problems. As you can see, Chief had to have his coat shaved because it was in such horrible condition that they could not get the mats off without shaving him. Once his hair grows back out he will be even more handsome then he already is! The last pic is of Chief before being clipped.

Normally GPRO would keep a dog in foster care until the heart worm treatment is completed, aprox. 30 days, but in Chief's case he is on a slow-kill method of heart worm treatment because the medicine for the usual fast kill is in on backorder throughout Oklahoma right now. We are hoping that an adopter would be willing to adopt him and continue his medicaine to complete the slow-kill method of treatment.
