Hi there! My name's Charlie and I am an adorable 8 year old miniature poodle weighing in at just 4lbs, yes, that's right, just 4lbs! I am up to date with all my shots, have had my teeth cleaned, am microchipped and have been "neutered"... whatever THAT means! My foster mom says you might want to grab a tissue before reading the rest of my story, as you might need it....
At one time in my life, my humans loved me. I thought life was wonderful... and then one day, something awful happened. My humans, my people, went away.... they just left me tied to a post at a truck stop with a sign that said "take me home". I was heart broken. I was alone and scared. I cried. I didn't know anyone and I didn't know what to do. I was desperate and I cried out helplessly as people passed me by. How could they just leave me like that?? Then, just when I couldn't take it anymore, a good samaritan came along and took me to the animal shelter - although I was still scared, it was better than being left at a post with no food and no water. There were so many other unwanted, frightened and abandoned dogs there. I wondered what was in store for me? Would I ever feel loved again? Would I ever have a place to call home?
Then, my guardian angel came and picked me up. He calls himself "Matt" and he is my foster dad. He took me home and gave me water, food and a lovely cushy bed to sleep in. Best of all, there are other dogs at my foster home too! They all seem to look like me.... although I am certainly the most petite! Don't let my size or age fool you though! I have tons of energy and I love to play and goof around- especially with my foster sister and brother and foster cousin! We have SUCH a good time! There are tons of squeaky toys, chewy bones and plushy toys to play with and I love them all!!
I love to go for walks and I love to fetch in the back yard. At night I sleep in a crate and that way I make sure I don't have any accidents. I also stay in the kitchen during the day as both my foster parents work full time. This way I know I have to wait until they get home and go outside to do my business.
I really like my sweaters and jackets because I had to be shaved. The groomers all loved me and wanted to take me home!! They said I was the BEST little doggie! (I just secretly loved all the attention). I almost went to sleep while they were bathing and brushing me! It felt sooo good to have all that hair and dirt off of me. (They took off an entire pound of hair and dirt).
My favourite thing is to be with you and on your lap. If I really like you (and who don't I like???) I will worm my way up to your shoulder and sit on your chest just under your chin. It's nice and warm there and I can check out everything that's going on. I love to give you kisses and love to have my belly rubbed and when I get excited..... well I tend to snort a little bit like a piglet!!
I would be fine in a bustling household or a quiet household, but would definitely love another little social dog to play with and be buddies with. Right now, my foster brother and I spend a lot of time together and he gives me baths and face washes regularly (I love it!) I hope you can find a place for me in your home and especially in your heart. All I have ever wanted is to be really loved by people that truly care about me. I promise, I will pay you back ten thousand fold with my love and loyalty.
