My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi everyone, I'm Betty! I'm a young adult, born around September 2009. I'm built like a mastiff but am more lab-sized. I'm still puppyish and love to wiggle and give kisses! I love people and being petted. Sometimes in my exuberance to meet people I pully really hard on the leash so someone with large-breed experience would be best.
I'm calm and confident when meeting other dogs, but I expect them to respect me. If they don't I quickly put them in their place. I would prefer to live with an older dog, one that is laid back or maybe shy or to be an only dog. Cats and other small animals probably won't be very safe around me. My mission is to clear my house and yard from all creatures that aren't people or dogs.
I was picked up as a stray by the KCK animal control when I was ~6 months old and like most large and dark colored dogs, I was passed over for adoption and ran out of time. Luckily KCK has a program called Ray of Hope and the volunteers at Happy Dogs Rescue took me in! I've been good with children over 5 and some kiddie playmates to help burn some energy might be nice! I'm not quite 100% housetrained but I'm getting there and I'm already cratetrained. I don't mind a crate and you won't have a mess when you come home. I'd love to join your household!

A note from the volunteers- although Betty is listed as a Mastiff/Lab (which is our best guess) she may resemble some of the "bully breeds" (possilby the Presa Canario). If you live in an area with breed specific legislation or restrictions, we will have to make sure Betty will be allowed before approving her adoption which may add a few days to the approval process. Thank you for understanding this is for her safety.

Betty is spayed, fully vaccinated (including Bordetella and Canine Influenza), microchipped, de-wormed, fecal checked negative, heartworm tested negative, kept on monthly heartworm prevention and is given season flea/tick prevention.
Her adoption fee is 100.
