My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

By foster mom Gwen---I laughed out loud with I first spotted laid-back Boomer in the puppy pen. He was slouched serenely sideways with his belly hanging over his hind feet while the other pups clamored around. He looked like a Disney creation with the large, extremely wide-set eyes and his pork roast shape. When I took him out on a leash for a walk, he preferred to lean against my leg and somehow convinced me to cuddle instead walking him. I brought him home to foster in early November just so I could see what he will look like without his prison paunch. With the freedom to run and play, he is shaping into a handsome (but still pudgy) pup.

Nov. 11, 2011 update-- at about six months old, he weighs 28 pounds for his short stature. So I'm guessing he will be of the low-slung body type. I can't imagine what genetics may be running through his family tree. Lab and either basset or beagle seem dominant but his laid back personality and gigantic feet could indicate some mastiff in there somewhere. No doubt about it, this boy will be an easy keeper and have an easy disposition. Boomer loves every human he meets and worries over nothing. My cat has taught him feline etiquette and he was easy to talk out of chasing chickens. We never officially housetrained him, just gave him opportunity to go outside whenever he wakes up or eats. He's never had an accident in our house. We've found most dogs will be that easy if you just give them the chance to go outdoors when they need to. He gets along fine with my pack of dogs. Adopt him while he is still a blank slate and train him to be the canine companion you've always wanted. One of the photos shows him with his brother Dover, who is also a real sweetie.

November 28---Boomer is growing wider and heavier but not taller. The photo of him and me together was taken today. I take photos often so if you would like to see more or if you just want an update on his personality and development contact me at gwenroland@gmail.com
