These sweet Labradoodles and their mom came to us recently from a breeding facility. This is mom, Sandy, and she is the sweetest, kindest, gentlest girl your could ever find. She loves people and gives kisses and hugs and just wants to be close. Although we don't know this love of a creature very long, we know she is just the perfect pet. And, she is so cute with her Labradoodle hairdo which could use some grooming. When she looks at you with those amazing eyes, your heart just melts. She is good on the lead, knows how to climb stairs (something unusual for a puppy mill dog) and seems to have received gentle treatment in her sad past. You will just go gaga over her. She may even be housebroken but we won't say for sure yet.

Sandyhas just been spayed and is up-to-date on shots and tested negative for heartworm. She weighs 57 pounds and could stand to lose a couple of pounds. Once she gets on a regular routine and walking program she will turn into her svelte self.

She looks like a copy of Sandy from Orphan Annie, hence the name.

Rawhide Rescue opens its arms to many dogs who are from puppy mills, or large breeding facilities, where dogs are bred for profit and not love. These dogs are routinely killed after their breeding days are over, usually at about age five, but we have been able to rescue dogs from some facilities.

Puppy mill dogs are a special rescue, as they have spent the majority of their lives in cages, and have not been properly socialized around humans. Each dog's rehabilitation varies widely, but problems with housebreaking, timidity and poor health are common. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please follow this link to find out more about what the special challenges and rewards are in adopting a puppy mill rescue.

Check the events page on our website for more information and directions to our adoption events.

To adopt Sandy, or any of our animals, please visit our website at www.rawhiderescue.org and download our Microsoft Word dog application or use our on-line application. Due to the volume of inquiries we receive, we can only respond to you if you have submitted a completed application.
