My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Madison arrived along with 3 other beagles on the day of her retirement from research. She was afraid at first but has gotten the hang of living the posh life! We spoiled her dearly to get her to understand she can relax. She surpassed the other retirees and gained a great deal of confidence. She needs an invitation to get up on furniture. She won't jump up on her own, but once she is lifted up, she snuggles right in. Madison has caught on to going to the bathroom outside as well. She will do it right in front of us even! She does not feel the need to go hide behind a bush. She is actually quite funny after she goes #2. Instead of kicking with her back legs like many dogs do, she slowly stretches them out one at a time like that felt sooooo good! Madison is still nervous around traffic, but walks well on leash. Just give her a road without too many cars please. She is still working on learning to sit on command. She is too busy jumping up for lovin to keep her bottom down. She is really a calm girl most of the time though. But when you talk to her, she does love it! Her coat is thick and soft. We love the way her tail curls around and looks like it dripped a bit of white from the tip to a spot on her back!

Madison's video is rather long at 18 minutes. Grab a beverage and enjoy! We know that we have been enjoying watching her.

As a retired research beagle, Madison is different from the average beagle. She is quiet and calm. At first she was afraid of grass, but now she likes to run across the yard then spin in circles before going to the bathroom. Since she lived her first 4 years in a cage, the circle spinning was all she could do to work it up. Now she loves having the yard to run across. However, her runs are only short bursts. Once all finished, she is ready to come in and curl up for a nap. She is very cuddly. When cradled on her back like a baby, she often falls asleep. Pretty much any pose you put her in, she will hold the pose and not complain. We do caution people with young children to keep an eye on activities. Madison would not protest if she was held in an uncomfortable way and she could get hurt. Meeting Madison will cause you to fall in love!
