My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Catz Jazz Rescue assists as many unfortunate & abandoned cats as possible, while advocating the message of compassion towards animals and responsible pet ownership. Catz Jazz strives to be one of the best Austin cat rescue operations by providing comfort & care for each and every animal coming into our rescue with consideration of their individual situations. Our goal is to find life-long companions for the rescued cats in our care.

Read about Peaches: This sweet darling is Peaches and she will bring a smile to anyone's face! Peaches is a cuddler and has a *super* purrr. She also has a knack for gentle head butts.
It's rather uncommon to find a female orane tabby since orange males outnumber orange females by about three to one, due to the gene that produces that combination, which normally shows up as a calico in females. As such, female orange tabbys are not seen all that often, only happening about 20-25% of the time. In order for an orange tabby female to be born, it would require for both parents to have an orange coat gene, so that the XX combination determines that they must be red. That makes them more uncommon than males (because in males the X gene in the XY combination takes over, so that even if both parents were not orange, a cat with an X orange gene will be orange - it happens more often in other words).
However, generally speaking, the orange tabby personality, regaurdless of gender, is usually that of a very sweet, very devoted cat and Peaches is going to bring much love to her human companions as only an orange tabby can do!

Peaches's estimated D.O.B. is May 8th, 2011
Dated added: 12/09/11 Photos current as of: 12/09/11

Peaches has passed a vet exam, is up-to-date with age-appropriate vaccinations, has been treated for any medical needs, given preventative treatment for internal parasites/fleas, has tested negative for FeLV/FIV, is litter-box trained and has been spayed. Now she just needs a forever home!

Baby, let's paint the town! If you want some Cat Jazz in your life and are interested in adopting this groovin' Catz Jazz rescue cat, please complete an online adoption application right now, call us or visit our adoption counselor on WEEKENDS at Lakeline PETsMART near Best Buy ACROSS from Lakeline Mall! We do not have a shelter building facility, but can set up appointments to bring a cat for a meet and greet to a prospective adopters' home up to 50 miles from our Austin base.

Please be advised that interested adopters go through a careful screening process to include reference checks, telephone interviews, in-person interview and home visits. It is our responsibility to ensure that the kitty's adopting family will always be committed to taking care of the adopted animal not just during it's cute phases but during unpleasant situations as well - if and when health or behavior problems develop over time (and they may), and that the cat is not being adopted on an impulse or will be discarded if their human gets tired of them. We genuinely care about the lives we have saved and want our rescued cats to to end up in a great forever home our mechanism of careful screening is there to increase the chances of this happening. Be prepared for a thorough interview and really be SURE that you are ready to make a lifetime commitment and to emotionally, physically and financially support a companion animal through rain or shine.

Donate a Kuranda cat bed to Catz Jazz
Donate a Kuranda Bed to Catz Jazz

If you can't adopt Peaches, would you consider donating a Kuranda cat bed to her while she waits for her forever person to find her?

Our rescued cats love to sleep on Kuranda cat beds because of their orthopedic comfort and we love them because they are stackable, allowing high perches for shy cats while increasing the amount of floor space, but due to our already constricted operating budget, we just don't have enough for everyone to sleep on.

When you donate a Kuranda cat bed to us, you will give an Austin rescue cat a place to sleep in comfort and have a bed to dream on while they patiently wait for their forever home.

We also gratefully accept donations of much-needed items from our
Catz Jazz Wish List.

Thank you so much for helping us out.

Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated.

♥ Please Help Chris get treatment! ♥
URGENT!! A RESCUE VOLUNTEER NEEDS EMERGENCY HELP! Please help our wish for him to come true.

A husband, father, brother, friend, and neighbor who lives in our community, is in dire need of our immediate help! At the beginning of July 2010, Chris Blankinship, a trusted and caring volunteer with Catz Jazz Rescue, was diagnosed with an Anaplastic Astrocytoma (grade III). This is a rare (about 4% of the population), life-threatening, rapidly-growing, malignant tumor. Due to the nature of this specific tumor and it's location, the only available treatment possibilities are very limited clinical trials (experimental treatments) for chemo and radiation treatment possibilities that will easily exceed the tens of thousands of dollars mark. We believe that with prayers, positive energy and strong willpower, and the financial help from compassionate supporters who are sympathetic to his plight, we can give Chris a chance to opt for those treatment possibilities, but time is of the essence! Any donation, no matter how small is a big help and is so greatly appreciated by his friends and family. We humbly ask for your support. Can you please help?
