My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IHOP is a Retreiver through and through. He will chase after any toy and bring it back to you as many times as your arm can throw. He loves the game of fetch. He also loves to play with other dogs. He is being fostered in a home with foster puppies. He is a big brother to them. Although sometimes the puppies might beat him to the toy, they know he is the elder and respect him about getting to be the one to bring it back. IHOP is sometimes a tad slow getting there because he is a recent tri-pod, 3 legged dog.

Somehow IHOP found himself all alone on the streets and fending for himself. He must not have been very good at it bacause he tried to cross a street and got hit by a car. He was afraid and limped off. People spotted him but even with a broken leg, he ran away. Then the leg became infected and he could run no more. Help finally came and he was taken to one of ROAR's vets. The infection was in the bone and his leg could not be saved. There are times when I believe that IHOP has no idea he only has three legs. He can certainly keep up with the other dogs in the house when it comes to playing and even running in the yard. At first the vet thought he might be under a year of age, but IHOP has not grown during the time ROAR has been caring for him. Watching him be more sophisticated with the younger dogs suggests that although he is under 40 pounds, he is an adult.

IHOP just a joy to be around. He loves all the attention he can get from belly rubs to even having his ears cleaned. He has learned to maneuver beautifully on three legs and has even mastered the stairs. Although sometimes hes just gets a little lazy and wants a little boost up the stairs..I think he just wants the attention. Smart boy!

He is great in his crate, loves being out in the yard, or laying with you while you watch TV. We are working on sit, which he gets, but always looks at me as if to say .you do remember I only have one back leg, right? IHOP would do great in a home with dogs or as an only dog. He is smart, funny and very loyal and is looking for the same.
