My story

Adonis is a German shepherd mix, is very smart, and has a calm disposition. He has lived at the shelter for 11 years because he has a shy temperament.

Fortunately, Adonis is now living with a foster family and 3 other dogs. He has bonded with his foster mom rapidly, but he is still afraid of strangers and in particular, men. He gets along well with other dogs. He is sweet, gentle and very loyal. He gives lots of kisses and wants to sit or sleep close to you. Adonis is his foster mom loyal companion, and he loves to follow her around the garden for yard work. Adonis likes fluffy toys and playing fetch. Adonis likes to spend time outdoors, but he also enjoys his couch :) He is healthy but he is almost deaf now.

If you are a woman and want a good companion, Adonis might be the dog you are looking for. Look into his eyes, you can see the love waiting for the right person to share it with.

At the time of adoption it is essential that a fee be charged as it will be used to feed and maintain the animals that are housed at our shelter. The adoption fee includes DHPP vaccine, rabies vaccine, microchip and sterilization. We do a home check prior to approving any adoption.

Born Free Pet Shelter is a No Kill 501(c)(3) non-profit dog rescue organization that has been helping homeless dogs since 1980. Located on a beautiful 5-acre refuge in the Redlands of South Florida, Born Free rescues dogs in distress and offers them the chance to lead happy and healthy lives.
We are currently responsible for over 50 dogs, ranging from puppies to seniors.
With the help of generous donations and the tireless efforts of our volunteers, we provide the love and care that they deserve.
Some of our dogs will live out their days at the shelter, but we have so many that would make wonderful companions if given the chance.
