My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jibo (G-bO), which means "affectionate father" in Japanese, is a 4 year old Black and Tan Shiba Inu. Jibo and his mate kept escaping and running at large from their home in Adam's County so Animal Control got involved. When officers showed up at the house after issuing several tickets, they discovered that Jibo, his mate and his three puppies were living in horrid conditions and that two of the puppies had eye injuries that had not been treated by a veterinarian so all the dogs were seized from the house. The dad and the pups were transferred to us and the mom,who we believe looked like a Long-haired Chihuahua/Pembroke Welsch Corgi mix, was adopted from the shelter.

Jibo is pretty shy of new people that he doesn't know. On neutral territory he may approach people to sniff and check them out but at home he is more a one person type dog and will alarm bark at visitors and people passing by. He definitely does better with women than men. He is interested in children but may not do well in a house that has frequent children coming and going all the time. He needs a fairly quiet home that can get him out socializing.

Jibo is fostered with two other female dogs and does great with them. He is also good with most male dogs and cats. Jibo adores his walks and going to playdates with other dogs. He gets two long walks a day and he really thrives from these.

Jibo tolerates his crate but he really can't be left loose in the house unsupervised so his new home needs to be willing to crate him both at night and when he is left. Although he would love to sleep in bed with you, if he is only crated when he is left alone he will associate the crate with people leaving which makes him really dislike the crate. He is also fed in the crate to create a positive association with the crate. He whines a bit in the crate but nothing too loud. Jibo is potty trained but may mark the first day or two in a new place, especially if there are other dogs.

Jibo is very much an escape artist. He can easily get over a 6 foot privacy fence so his new home either needs to be an apartment or if in a house with a yard he needs to be walked for exercise and put on a tie-out for potty breaks outside to prevent escape.

Jibo really is a sweet dog and will make a great companion to the right person. Are you it?

Jibo's adoption fee is $275.00 which includes his neuter, micochip, deworming, vaccinations including rabies, and a training course.
