My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Maggie was saved from being euthanised at a high kill shelter in North Carolina. She feels so lucky to have a new chance at a great life. Soon after leaving the shelter we found out that Maggie had a mild case of heartworm. Thanks to our wonderful supporters, we were able to treat Maggie while she stayed at a vet in NC. Everyone who met Maggie told us what a nice dog she was, from the vet staff in NC to the transporter who drove her up here. Maggie has been in NY for two weeks now and she is such a little love.

Maggie was very surprised to see cats in her foster home and even more surprised at how brave they were walking right up to her. Maggie would need a savvy home if she were to live with cats and would do best in a home with dog-saavy cats. (If they ran, she would probably chase them.)

Maggie goes to the door to tell us when she needs to go outside and has not had even one accident since she's been here. She is also learning that the crate is a really good place to be and runs in for her meals.

She wiggles and wags like crazy when you tell her she is a 'good girl!' She likes to be pet and appreciates affection, but she is far from pushy. Maggie spends most of her time on a comfy chair. She is more mature than her foster siblings and is happy staying out of the rough and tumble play. We think Maggie is such a special dog and we can't wait to find her a family that is as sweet as she is! She certainly deserves a wonderful life.
