My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Have you ever seen such soulful, expressive, honey-colored eyes? We're guessing not--meet the lovely Dusty!

Dusty is about a year-and-a-half old (or so), appears to be a Shepherd/Pit Bull type dog blend, about 40 pounds, with an incredibly sweet and gentle nature. She has a very unique look to her, with her pretty face and comically large ears.

This lovely girl has not been dealt an easy start in her young life--she was found wandering an old country road in Aurora, Oregon last summer. The kind person who found her happened to also be a veterinarian and so was compassionate enough to give her chance in life. BAPBR was contacted to bring her into our foster program and she found a family to call her own. Unfortunately, Dusty's family was not able to keep her, due to changed circumstances, so, Dusty is back to square one to find her forever home and we want to help make that happen.

The great thing about Dusty is her outlook, though! Nothing will get this girl down. She is literally happy all the time--so much so her tail never stops wagging. She loves everyone she meets, young and old, men and woman and all the dogs (of all sizes and breeds) she has had the opportunity to call her friends. Dusty is a little too excitable around cats and birds so needs a cat-and bird-free home for their benefit.

She will thrive in a home with someone willing to invest time into her and give her the routine, stability and structure she craves. This smart cookie has already taken basic obedience school where she learned the sit, lie down, come and stay commands. She is getting better and better at not pulling on the leash during her walks. She's crate trained and quiet, too.

She is young so some energy to burn each day and loves to have play sessions with people and dogs, but she is also a big fan of cuddle time and really likes to give kisses of appreciation to the people who show her kindness. Are you a hiker, a runner, or a cyclist? Dusty would make a fantastic companion and exercise partner!

Dusty is an incredibly wonderful dog. Photographs and words really don't do her any justice--you have to meet her to truly appreciate what a special dog she is! If you have an active lifestyle, a family with children, or are looking to find a friend for your current dog, you simply must call to meet this girl.

BAPBR adoption guidelines:
No same-sex pit bull pairings.
Same-sex adoptions with other breeds will be considered on a case-by-case basis, though not preferred.
Indoor homes only – we do not adopt out “outdoor” dogs or “guard” dogs.
Those applying to adopt one of our dogs -- you must be a homeowner, there will be a homecheck. There will be no exceptions made to this rule. Due to the restrictions on apartments, and rental homes we do not adopt our Pit Bull Terrier type dogs out to renters. *Thank you for your understanding*

I am looking for a leader who will keep up my training, and always show me boundaries and consistency. This will ensure that I keep giving my breed a good name. Our personalities are energetic, loyal, intelligent, fun loving, and affectionate. We require intelligent, responsible, and dedicated leadership. Because of our undeserved negative media image, human companions living with Pit Bull Terrier type dogs have to be more careful and responsible than the average human dog companion.

"To the world you may be just one person, but to a dog you are the world."

"No matter how little money and how few possessions you own, having a dog makes you rich."
