Here's what the humans have to say about me:
THIS DOG CURRENTLY HAS AN ADOPTION PENDING.
Please check back later to verify status.
Hi! I'm Mimsy, a 3-4 year old female Rat Terrier. I weigh 12 pounds (but could afford to get in shape a little). When I first came to my foster home, I was very grumbly, and my foster mom was afraid I might not be a good girl, but I showed her it's just my way of talking, so now she talks to me and I grumble back. I am really good with puppies and other dogs, but I AM the queen, so sometimes I have to remind them who's boss. I always get fed in my crate because I don't share food very well. I do take treats gently, though. My favorite thing in the world is getting petted! I will sit on anyone's lap (if you won't let me, I'll try to sneak up anyway) to get neck scratches and belly rubs. I follow my foster family everywhere and cry when I can't find them. At night I love to tunnel under the covers and curl up to sleep. I don't like to be squeezed and will often yelp when someone tries to pick me up because it scares me. Once I'm in your arms, the kissing begins! I'd love a home with an active family who will take me for walks and love on me all the time. I like children that are a little older and dog-wise. I don't mind cats much but would rather have another dog around to play with. Mimsy is housetrained and almost completely accident-free in the house. But you have towels lying around on the floor, she feels compelled to "annoint" them.
OUR ADOPTION FEE is $150 ($175 for puppies younger than 6 months; $200 for American Hairless Terriers).
QUESTIONS ABOUT ADOPTION? Read the "Adoption Process" section below!
IS THIS DOG AVAILABLE? If the bio above doesn't say that there's an adoption pending, then YES! he or she IS available. As soon as we approve an application, we'll post it, so you will NOT get more current info by emailing us to ask if the dog is available. To "get in line" to adopt or get more details, you MUST CLICK HERE to submit an Adoption Application.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS DOG? The email address on this page is for website-related issues ONLY. For answers to specific questions about a particular dog, you MUST submit an Adoption Application! That is the only way to access the fosterparent for this particular dog, who is the only person who can answer specifics about this dog's personality or geographic
location. (Our dogs are located in private fosterhoms around the state, and we do not provide those addresses on the Internet or to casual inquiries, and you cannot just "drop by" to see a dog without prearranging it with the fosterhome.) Because we are an all-volunteer organization and receive a very high volume of inquiries, we can only respond personally to people who have demonstrated a serious interest in adoption by filling out our application.
