My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

WE ARE SORRY BUT WE ADOPT ONLY WITHIN THE STATE OF FLORIDA

Trixie is a beautiful youngster who is the living definition of the meaning of her name, “Bringer of Joy”. She is very friendly to anyone she meets and is very kind and patient with children. She has been exposed to children as young as a year old and allowed them to crawl on her, and play with her tail, without any argument.

Trixie is a typical Husky “face licker” and happiest when with people - she absolutely loves attention and to be petted. She will affectionately jump up and "hug" you. Belly rubs are her favorite, with occasional scratches under her ears and chin. Trixie loves being brushed and to lie on the cool tile floor.

Trixie does well with other dogs, any size. She lives with a rat terrier and they love to play together (see the movie below). Trixie barks when around strange dogs, but accepts them after a thorough sniffing. She walks well on leash and does not pull, although she will stop short to investigate a curious smell. Trixie does not like cats and will act aggressively when around them.

Trixie is not crate trained and does not need to be, once she learns the house rules. She is not destructive and knows to stay out of the trash and away from the oven and countertops. Trixie knows her name and will sit and lay down on command. She seems to be comfortable around large groups of people; loud noises do not bother her. She shows minor separation anxiety and howls some when her foster mom leaves the house but otherwise is not particularly vocal – most Huskies aren’t.

Trixie does not like to share her things (like her chew bones) with other dogs and will not allow another dog in her personal "den area". She is also a streaker and bolts for the door if it is the slightest bit ajar. She shows little interest in toys. When playing fetch, she will run after the ball but come back without it.

She enjoys riding in the car and sticking her nose out the window to feel the fresh air. She will excitedly wait in the back seat until you are ready with the leash, so she can go walking. Trixie has bountiful energy (she is a Husky after all) and will run for long periods. Her foster mom often takes her on a five-mile run and Trixie never gets tired. Even with all her exercise, she is not a big eater.

Trixie is healthy, heartworm negative, housebroken, spayed, microchipped and up-to-date with all her shots. A veritable clean slate for whoever is lucky enough to adopt her. Watch your home and your heart light up in this girl’s presence. Fill out an adoption application on our web site, WWW.SIBERRESCUE.COM, today.
