The very epitome of a Northern Snow Dog, Koda Bear, a graceful, elegant snow-white girl, with her icy blue eyes, brings to mind the glaciers in Greenland. It well may be that standing in her presence, on a hot Florida day, might actually make you feel cooler.
She walks very well on leash and doesn't pull, which may change rapidly if a squirrel or other small animal catches her eye. Koda Bear enjoys her exercise time outside and, being a young Husky, her new family will need to ensure she gets plenty of exercise. She is an alpha female that will try to take over if you let her and therefore needs a strong owner to set boundaries and teach her who is in charge. Even as an alpha, she still enjoys playing with other dogs her size.
Koda Bear is very friendly with those she meets outside of the home and will bond easily with her new family members. You will see how excited she gets when you return after being away. We surmise that Koda Bear has gone through a frequent change of homes for various reasons (not necessarily her fault) and now is initially a little insecure when brought to a new home. Because of this, unlike most Huskies, Koda Bear shows a territorial and protective side while inside the home. This includes barking when someone knocks on the door, comes inside, or walks by outside. Any adopter will have to work with her on this and let her know what behavior is acceptable and what is not.
This playful girl loves belly rubs and is affectionate, without being demanding for attention. She is quite content curled up in her own space, especially after a hard day of exercise and play. Koda Bear knows some basic commands such as sit, stay, and paw. As an alpha female, she may be somewhat assertive toward female dogs her own size so we recommend she be watched carefully when approaching small dogs, cats and other small animals.
Since Koda Bear is still young and highly energetic, we feel she will do best in a home without toddlers and youngsters, teens should be ok.
