My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to thank Sarah Ernhart of Sarah Beth Photography, Minneapolis/Saint Paul, for generously donating the photos of Emily displayed here.

Hi! my name is Emily, but my foster family prefers to call me Pumpkin Face or their Littlest Angel. They rescued me and cared for me when I needed them the most. I was found severely underweight, very hurt, and sick with heartworm, skin, and ear infections. I had barely any fur. But my foster family took me to a doctor and got me all fixed up. Now I have a whole new life! Besides sometimes achy joints, I am a healthy girl. I need help getting into the car, but I like the car ride. I feel good, and my fur is so soft and wavy now. I feel like a fuzzy lamb, and I love to have my fur brushed!

I've learned that people are gentle and kind. They love to snuggle just the way I do. I have thoughtful brown eyes that invite people to confide in me and tell me stories, which I listen to with all the love in my heart. I strive to please my family, and I've found that my snuggling skills make them especially happy. I will curl up on their laps to keep them warm, rest my chin on their legs, or even roll onto my back for a belly rub.

I love to go for casual walks on the trail or in the woods, and I'm quite a delight because I never pull on the leash. I trot in the fields and explore like that monkey, Curious George. I've never been on such exciting adventures before now! I've also met dogs and people of all ages on our walks, and I get along with most dogs.

The food here is wonderful, and my foster mom's chicken parmesan makes me purr like a kitten! My palate isn't too picky, though. I just love a full belly!

I am slightly hard of hearing, but I try my best to listen closely. Since I can't always hear everything, though, I'll be safest in a fenced-in yard where I can mosey around and relax. I'm a very good girl at the groomer and the vet's office, and I'm on my best behavior when I'm left at home by myself. I don't bark, and I know several commands, such as Sit, Stay and Come. I'm potty trained, and I always let my foster mom know when I have to make a trip outside, even at nighttime (around 12:30 AM every night). I sleep on a big bed with my foster family and Springer brothers, and in the morning, I'll wake my foster mom with Springer kisses. I'm usually easygoing, but I do get grouchy at times.

My foster mom tells me that life with my Forever Family will be full of comfort, happiness, and love. She says they'll love me with all their hearts because I'm as sweet as a chocolate doughnut with little sprinkles on top!

Cuddles and kisses,
Emily

From Emily's foster parents: Emily is a great dog most of the time, but she will snap if she is surprised. She doesn't hear well, so she does startle. She needs an experienced Springer owner who understands a senior dog who has arthritis and cannot hear so well. We are looking for a family who understands Emily's personality and can accept her grouchiness at times. She is around 11 years old and weighs 41 lbs.

Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Emily.
