Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Minka is an adorable 1-yr-old who weighs 12 lbs. We think she is a terrier mix. She may also be part dachshund because of her short legs and longer torso. She has long, beautiful, wavy hair (which is currently in a very short summer cut), and she has big beautiful brown eyes that just "speak to you."
Minka is the sweetest and most loving little girl with her humans. She plays nicely with her doggie foster brothers and sisters, and would never hurt the cats (although she thinks it's fun to play chase). Minka is not a barky dog, but will alert you to passersby and intruders, and she will join in if everyone else is barking. Otherwise, she's very content to just hang out with you. Give her a chewie and she's a happy camper. She loves going for walks and quickly learned where her foster home is. She is one smart cookie. Minka can also swim, which we found out quite by accident -- she fell in the pool, found and swam to the step by herself and pulled herself out before we even had a chance to jump in after her.
Minka is very healthy, but the vet seems to think that she may have survived distemper as a puppy because she does some quirky things sometimes. For example, when she runs she hops like a bunny. It's adorable, and it certainly doesn't slow her down. She prances when she walks (also very cute), with her front legs doing a kind of goose step. And sometimes she puts her head downward and shakes it as if she has water in her ears. She doesn't -- the vet says her ears are clean and healthy. Otherwise, she is running around like a normal pup, and is having a blast playing with all the other foster dogs (although she wouldn't mind being your only dog so she can have all the attention for herself!).
Minka is just the sweetest little cuddle bug ever. You look into her eyes and she is so grateful and happy to have good food, a warm and comfy bed, and some TLC. She is very gentle and, if there's such a thing as a doggy hug, Minka does it. When you hold her, she lays her head against your chest to snuggle as close as she can. And she gives the most gentle little puppy kisses. Minka will make someone a truly loyal and affectionate companion.
We are recommending a home with no children, or older children who can be very gentle with her. Other than that, she has no restrictions.
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, vet checked, current on vaccinations, microchipped, groomed, de-wormed, de-flea'd, and come with a collar, leash, ID tag, and puppy kisses from the lucky dog you take home!
If you are interested in meeting and possibly adopting Minka, the first step is to submit an adoption application. Please go to our website www.k9bestfriendsforever.com and click on "Adopt" which will take you to our online application form.
