Able is a Pitbull/Mastiff mix with a great love of people, despite the cruelty he endured over the first years of his life. He was living on a chain, and over time, the chain became embedded in his neck. Not only was he slowly choking, but he could barely swallow what food he was given. Witnesses saw the bleeding from his throat & turned the matter over to the Sheriff's Dept. The dog was confiscated, the owner charged with "Illtreatment", & later convicted and fined for the crime. The victum had to await his fate at the county pound - would he be returned to the owner, be rescued , or die via euthanasia? He was not returned to the owner , and after searching to find a rescue from the West Coast to the Northeast, FAR took him in just days before his death date. He was named "Able" due to the fact that he defied the odds of survival not once, but twice! His estimate date of birth is May 2009.
