My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there, I'm Madelynn. I am a little female Miniature Dachshund looking for the right home. I weigh in at 10 pounds and I am approximately 15 months old. As you can see, I am very unique with my one blue eye. I can see out of it just fine though, it's just part of what makes me so beautiful I'm told! I am such a sweetheart and I have lots of snuggles to give you. I like to sit up on your chest and be held. I am living in a foster home currently with cats and one other small dog (who is a little too hyper for my taste!). I need lots and lots of affection and your undivided attention. As you can tell I would prefer to be the only dog and get all the attention, but I guess a cat would be good company for me as I would probably just ignore it. I get along with all animals large and small, but I don't like to be pounced on or bothered to much by other dogs. I am crate trained for the most part, but I really don't like being in there much. When I am first let out of my crate, I wiggle and run around the house like a little cheetah, my foster parents think this is hilarious! I am working on housebreaking and do pretty well, but I still need a little work. My ideal home would be with someone who is home a lot or works from home, as I don't like being alone to much. I am okay with older children, but not toddlers. Madelynn's adoption donation is $200 and that covers her spay, heartworm test which was negative and we suggest that you retest in 6 months for accuracy, vaccinations including lepto, bordetella, rabies and boosters, fecal test, microchip and current on heartworm and flea prevention. If you are interested in adopting Madelynn, we ask that you do some research on the Dachshund breed to make sure that you understand the needs of this breed, and the typical health and surgery issues that may arise with the breed. You may go on our website on the adoption page and fill out a on-line dog adoption application. You will receive notification back that your application has been received and then it will be reviewed by one of our volunteers. It may take up to 3-4 days to review the application.
