My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Please note - Friday (and his companion Emmylou)came to our rescue covered in mats, emaciated, un-altered and in dire need to love and attention and heartworm positive. He is currently being treated, however treatment can take months and is very expensive. If you would like to make a donation to help with his medical bills, please visit www.countrysideanimalrescue.org. Any little bit helps. If you would like to adopt Friday, please let us know and we can work something out while he is under going medical care. Hi, I'm a cute little black male miniature poodle named Friday. My owner suffered a heart attack and neighbors have been trying to take care of me and my house mates, but it's been tough. I lived outside and one of my housemates died due to the cold. During a snow storm some nice folks took me in out of the weather. They decided I needed a better life and got me into this great rescue group. I'm starting to feel brand new again. I've been getting really good food, putting on weight, got all my mats shaved off! My foster mom puts a sweater on me because I'm so thin. She thinks I look like a praying mantis! When I go to my new forever home I will be neutered, fully vaccinated (Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella), heartworm negative, free of intestinal parasites, microchipped, and current on flea and heartworm preventative. My foster and vet thinks I'm about 5-7 years old, and right now I weight about 13 pounds (although my foster mom thinks I should weigh about 16-20 pounds once I put on more weight).. I love to be with people and sleep on the bed with them. I'll do my job to keep you warm at night, all you have to do it provide the care and love I desperately need and want. I love to play with other dogs and don't mind cats too much. I'm doing well with my house training and have learned to use a doggie door. If you fall in love with me, which won't be hard to do, please visit the website and fill out an adoption application. My adoption fee is a $200 donation to our rescue. Update on 3/26/2007: Friday went for his second round of heartworm treatment. He is still thin, but has build a lot of muscle. We this he will always be a lean dogs. He should be more comfortable this time with the injections. He is such a spry little guy! He loves his short leash walks and being with his family. We hope he continues to do well with his treatments and in a couple weeks will be able to lift his activity restrictions. Update 4/30/2007 - Well, activity restrictions were supposed to be lifted, however, Friday suffered a reaction to his heartworm treatment, a week ago and he is on restriction for another 2 weeks. We have him on steroids and antibiotics, and he has to have cage rest. Oh and he is not liking it at all. He wants to be out with his foster brother and sisters out running in the back yard! But he'll do just fine snuggled up to his foster mom on the couch! He's doing much better and has stopped coughing. Now we are just weening him off the steroids and finishing the antibiotics. After he's done with them, we will see about vaccines and getting him scheduled for his neuter. Friday wants to thank everyone for their support, prayers and donations. He was very happy to meet the ladies that have been cheering him on our last Dogs Night Out and hopes to find a forever home soon.
