My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Woof - my name is Buck. I am a 3 year old Neutered Male SUPER HANDSOME and SUPER SWEET boy. I was named Buck, because I look just like a young deer with my beautiful light brown/fawn coloring. I am Labrador Retriever mixed with Pointer or Hound and probably a few other breeds mixed in as well! I have been living in a home after being rescued from the shelter and I am 100% housetrained and I don't mark at all (never once) and I don't chew or mess up things either. I am a dog you can comfortably leave all day alone. I am very attentive to my humans and I love to lay by your side and I love to be pet, I even lean up against you for more pets. I also come fully trained having been run through an intensive 2 week training course with some of my other rescue dog friends. I am smart and eager to learn and please. I am great with other dogs if they are not dominant dogs, otherwise I would prefer to be the only dog. I am living in a foster home with a bunch of other dogs. I am fabulous with kids. My rescue thinks I would make a fabulous therapy dog if you were interested in doing that with me. My rescue saved me - quite literally - from a high-kill Los Angeles shelter called North Central. My rescue was there picking up another dog and I was being walked into the euth room (which ironically is right next to the adoption kennels). My rescue saw me and could not get me out of her mind, so I went into this smelly, horrible, scary room, and moments later I was being walked back outside so she could meet me. I mean how could you say no to me? Did you see how sweet and handsome I am? My rescue walked me around the back parking lot, pet me, hung out with me, gave me treats and I was lucky enough to leave that day out of the front door instead of the backdoor so to speak. I was already neutered before I got to the shelter. I weigh 65 lbs. I was very clearly someone's pet who they no longer wanted or were no longer able to care for. My rescue then took me and put me with lots of other dogs and I did just great with everyone. I like all of these other labs they have and the little chihuahuas were just fine with me too. The only bad habit my rescue has noted is I do pull a little on the leash, but I correct easily. I am not a big barker, actually my rescue has never heard me bark. I love to please which makes me easy to train. While my person is talking, I literally lay or sit at their side waiting patiently. I am housetrained and neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on all of my shots. Please ask for me - Buck!

If you are interested in meeting me or adopting me, please email my rescue at carolee@labsandfriends.org for an application for me or any of my other dog friends - or you can also go to www.labsandfriends.org and download the application there as well.
