Macarena's Info...

I am in need of an experienced adopter.

Macarena's Story...
Macarena is a DNA-sexed male DuCorps Cockatoo. His original owner could no longer keep him. Because of his unhappiness, he picked his feathers.

Macarena is an extremely talented talker, however...and he talks all the time. He says “Macarena" and "Here kitty, kitty." He says "Hello" when the phone rings. He sings, he laughs, he even cries. He seems to use language appropriately.

One of his favorite things to do is chew up paper and cardboard. He also loves to play peek-a-boo.

Macarena's approximate hatch date is 2/1995, and his adoption donation is $500.

For information on some of the characteristics of this bird, see this Species Profile page:

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Macarena, a St. Louis Cockatoo was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatoo for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Cockatoo from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatoo breeders who help with Cockatoo rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
