My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 09/17/2012: Hello there! It’s me again, Eli with another update! I'm still 6 lbs and 11 lbs :) My foster parents tell me I am a different dog than the shy, timid boy they met months ago. I now enjoy seeing my foster parents when they get home and nothing is more relaxing than laying with them on couch and watching tv! I’m looking forward to another haircut so I can continue my new shiny coat. We are thinking of getting me a short puppy cut! Also, I can’t wait to get groomed because I get to ride in the car which I still get kinda nervous about, but I am starting to enjoy it. I still really enjoy playing with my foster fur-siblings and neighbor fur-friends, so I’d enjoy a fur-ever home with another pup that I can play with! I am really excited about the idea of getting adopted and spending fur-ever with a new family, my new family, that will have the patience to continue teaching me how to be a house-pup and that I can trust humans to love me unconditionally….could it be you???

UPDATED BIO 06/22/12: Hi there everybody, Eli here!! I am 6 years old and weigh a chubby 11 lbs, but Foster Mom said I need to lose a couple of pounds to be a healthier weight; I am being fostered in Spring Hill, FL.

I wanted to give all my fans a little update on my new life as a “house” dog. So for starters, I got my teeth all cleaned up! Now my FM says I have the prettiest smile she’s ever seen…I think she must be right! Also, my vet says I am now officially out of the puppy-making business PERMANENTLY. Walking on a leash and pottying outside are new to me, but FM says I’ve made BIG progress! I even go to the door to let her know if I need to go! I owe some of the credit to my 4-legged foster brothers; they have really shown me the ropes! I’d really like to have a 4-legged brother or sister in my future adopted home that could help me get acquainted and to play with. You see, before coming to UYR I lived in a cage outside and only interacted with my doggie friends. I didn’t care much for humans because they weren’t very nice and only wanted me to make more puppies for them to sell. But now I enjoy lying with my FD on the couch and even give him kisses! I’ve learned that some humans are really nice and I can trust them, but I still have a few jumpy moments.

MANY things are new to me like eating hard food and drinking out of a bowl. I have to say the BEST part about my new life is TREATS! It took me a few weeks to realize how tasty they were, but now I can’t get enough!!! My hair was a little sparse, so my FM has been making sure I eat the good stuff so I can get my shiny, full coat back! I could use a haircut, but my coat isn’t quite ready yet. My FM says I’ll be getting one soon though, so make sure to check for pictures in a couple weeks!!! Or, if you think I could make a great addition to your family fill out an adoption application and you can see my new hair-do in person!

INITIAL BIO 05/05/2012: Eli was rescued today from a large backyard breeding operation. He was the only yorkie left without a home after hundreds of others were adopted or rescued. He was so frightened of his new surroundings that all he needed was another day to get used to his new found freedom! Eli is temporarily being fostered in Tampa, FL. He got a clean bill of health today and weighed in at a chubby almost 11 lbs. He needs to lose 1-2 pounds to be at a healthier weight. He is about 6 years old. He is friendly and gets along well with other dogs. We will be working on everything with Eli as leash walking, potty training, etc. are all new for this fella. Please stay tuned as we get to know this little guy better! Doesn't he look so happy??
