Luna's Story...
Luna was rescued from the mean streets of Castro Valley, where she had survived as a stray for who knows how long. When first taken into Dusty Paws foster she weighed barely 8 lbs. Today, although still slim and trim, she tips the scales at 10. Her estimated age is 2-3.

This little dog is slowly but surely becoming the cute, socialized little pet that would be welcome in any family. Luna is working on her basic commands – sit and stay – and her house-training is going smoothly. Although she tends to be shy and nervous around unfamiliar humans, she will adjust when she gets to know them. Luna is very good with other dogs and tolerates cats. She is currently getting along famously with her foster dog brother, Boris. Guarding the back yard against noisy squirrels and going on long walks are two of her favorite activities.

Luna is spayed, micro-chipped and vaccinated. She is home-ready for that special family who will continue to work with her and provide her with a safe environment forever. Any children in family should be gentle and dog-savvy.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Luna, a Castro Valley Chihuahua dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua for sale in Castro Valley, or seeking a Chihuahua dog from a breeder in Castro Valley.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Castro Valley already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Castro Valley breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua breeders who help with Chihuahua rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Castro Valley paves the way for another one to be saved.
