My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Trix is a young male bunny with a long story of rejection. Yet, he is just a little soul, looking for affection and safety, and willing to give affection, in his own way. Here is the story. Someone dumped four rabbits in a bushy area in Newton, Surrey. One of them died (don't know how), and two males and a female were left to survive the winter all by themselves. One family in the area took pity on the black male and female and they were recently neutered/spayed, being adopted together with their two (three month old) babies.

Trix, the brown bunny, was mostly by himself, and he was not lucky enough to find a human family. Some kids sporadically fed him, but no safe place to turn to. Coal, the black male, bigger than him, was always fighting him over the only female available.

When I managed to catch Trix, he was wet, matted and had at least a couple of lbs of mud stuck to his fur in the back. His ears had a couple of rips from fights with Coal, and possibly other animals. His nose was congested or recovering from bites, and he had some patches of missing fur and bites from very recent fights.

I felt really bad for Trix, being rejected both by people and by bunnies (likely his siblings). So I wanted to hold him a lot, but noticed he was too fearful and hurt to enjoy it. Also, I noticed that when being held he would go very stiff, and eventually would get some weird muscle reflexes. At first I wondered if he was getting seizures, but it only turned on and off with touch, and lasted just a few seconds, or ended as soon as I touched him the opposite way. After having him for a couple of months, he already allows me to pick him up, with no seizure-like reactions, and he licks my hands when I groom him. He is friendly, he comes to my hand and sniffs it (like a gentle kiss) whenever I stretch it towards him, and he likes soft head rubs.

Trix needs to run freely in a nice backyard, living with people that would give him lots of space, and will love him unconditionally, allowing him to take his time before allowing touch. He is otherwise very well behaved, he does not bite nor is he territorial. I would hate to label him as "special needs" just because he doesn't trust touch after so much rejection.

I am sure there are compassionate special people out there who can love Trix as he is. If you are that kind of person, please contact me ASAP.
