Roderick is a Golden Retriever/Lab mix, who we think is around 1-1.5 years old, that came to us in our most recent puppy mill rescue. We have been fortunate to save some great dogs from puppy mills and large breeding facilities, where dogs are bred for profit, and not love.
Roderick is a little timid, but is one of the friendliest, most affectionate dogs you can ever meet! He is still puppyish in some ways, and will try to hop onto your lap to try and kiss you, any chance he can get! He is great with the other dogs in his foster home, and isn't quite sure what to make of cats, but would be just fine with them. He absolutely LOVES people of all sizes, but because of his playfulness, and constant tail wagging and wiggling, he make accidently knock over smaller children.
Many things he is experiencing now are new to him, like going up and down long flights of stairs, which with a little coaxing and patience, has gotten much better at. He was so intrigued when he first saw the TV, that he promptly ran up to see who was talking to him, and plopped down to watch! His foster mom has been working with him on teaching him good manners, and walking on a leash, but he would benefit from some continued training with his new family. He is smart and so eager to please, especially if you have yummy treats, that with some patience and gentle guidance, he will show you what a great boy he is!
Roderick is crate trained, up to date on his shots, recently neutered, and is quickly learning about housetraining, and how to "sit" nicely for treats. If you are looking for a friendly, sweet boy that will shower you with lots of love, then Roderick is definitely your boy!! Any family that adopts this golden boy, will truly be lucky!!
