My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 10/10/2012: Teak is an adorable 5 1/2 year old 8 lb male yorkie; he is being fostered in Suwanee, GA.

Hi, I'm Teak, Rawwwwr!!! I'm a lion for Halloween this year! Don't worry though, I'm not the biting, mean kind. I'm the kind that will lie down with lambs. Although, Foster Dad says if they ever start an all Yorkie football team, I'm sure to be a starting linebacker. FD also says that contrary to initial reports, I am not heavy or overweight - I'm just built to last. I like it here and FD says I'm going to make someone a perfect sidekick and companion. I'm not sure if I want to be the sidekick, though. Maybe I'll be the superhero!

FD introduced me to a scrawny little thing he called a cat and, while it's curious to stare at, I'm not that interested in it and I think I'm much more convincing as a lion than that cat would ever be. I'd much rather chase the squirrels and the birds in the backyard, although those cat creatures sure have interesting smells. I love to look out the window and see all the interesting things go by and I love to have the top of my head scratched …… and I would really really love to be your best friend forever.

UPDATED BIO 10/01/2012: Teak is an adorable 5 1/2 year old, quite chubby 14 lb male yorkie; he is being fostered in Suwanee, GA. Teak has been on his own and the boss for quite some time since his previous owner surrendered him because he was no longer able to care for him. Teak is having to be re-socialized and trained, but he’s already making progress; his past is sad, but his future is bright and he will make a great companion. Teak gets along well with other dogs, and appears uninterested in cats. He can be easily startled, and is probably not a good fit for a home with young children under 12.

Teak desperately wants to feel secure and craves love and attention. He loves to play with his new squeaky toy but does NOT want to share it; he is learning that the toy belongs to his Foster Dad and not to Teak. He’s no dummy and always remembers where the toy was last hidden. Fortunately for us all, Teak can’t climb or jump too high. Teak is a very solid 14 pounds and is not a dog that is going to fit in your purse or be easily carried, but then Teak needs to lose a couple of pounds to be at a healthier weight, so the exercise is good for him. He is learning how to walk on the leash and how to be a good neighbor.

Teak wanted to add a few comments about himself:

Hi, I’m Teak. I like my new Foster Dad but I really really love the ladies! FD tells me that I am a ladies’ man! I think he’s right. I have not had a lot of attention in the past and I’ve been left to my own devices for quite some time. I have certainly missed the companionship of people, and I am learning again how to be polite, but I think it’s worth it because I love the attention I’m getting! I’ve only been here a few days but I’m already remembering how to sit and stay. I can’t wait to learn more stuff. FD surprised me with a double-squeaker squeaky toy today and I think it’s my new best friend! I love all the sounds it makes! I’d love to have a home where I know I’m loved and where I get constant loving attention. Could you be my new mommy or daddy? I promise I’ll be the best boy I can be if you’ll give me a chance.

INITIAL BIO 08/17/2012: MEET TEAK! He is an adorable 5 1/2 year old 8 lb male yorkie; he is being fostered in Suwanee, GA. Teak's owner is critically ill and Teak has been alone in his house for a while. Teak is very sweet and loves his person very much, so he is sad now to have so many changes happening in his life. Please stay tuned for more info on Teak as Foster Dad gets to know him better.
