My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Quebec.
"Such a PRETTY little girl....so sweet and shy... just a little lady!" That's what I hear all of the nice people at the Humane Society say. I am Quebec and I am so relieved that these wonderful people rescued me!

I'm a beautiful BLACK AND TAN WALKER HOUND MIX. They think I was probably born in the late summer of 2011. I have the softest color fur and my eyes....they are so pretty. I have never known what it is like to have a family, let alone to have someone to treat me kindly. I was just kept in a pen .... no hugs, kind words, affection or sweet talk.

I finally was left on a busy highway.....my owner didn't want to take the time to bring me back to his house. He thought that just because I was a hound, that I should know how to hunt and run with the other dogs. How would I know how to do that??? I was just a little puppy girl and they would turn me out to run and I would be frightened and get lost. He just got tired of me and decided I was 'not worth taking time to catch.' Golly, he was so mean that when he came after me, I was so frightened, I ran.

The nice shelter people were so patient with me...they knew how frightened I was and that I wouldn't come to them. They were afraid I would either starve to death or be hit by a car...so they put some yummy food in a trap and I went right in! That was my lucky day! I never knew that people were nice, loving and gentle!

I am living in a foster home now and learning all about love and kindness...it's really wonderful! My foster Mom has crate trained me, taught me to walk on a leash, and I am learning to get in the car all by myself to go for rides. I am learning to come when I am called...when I don't have a leash on, I still think I need to run away to be safe. My Mom loves me and she is teaching me that people can be kind and gentle....I'm learning to trust. She said my new family will give me my own warm bed, lots of food and treats, hugs, kisses and take time to help me learn to trust them.

I'm still kind of shy but I am learning that there are people in this world who LOVE sweet little puppy girls! I Love other dogs and cats too....the world is full of new friends for me! I'm learning so much - how to walk on a leash, how to trust people and I already have learned that having a safe place to sleep and lots of food is wonderful!

They say I will make a very loving family pet....that my new family will be so blessed to have me. I am SO SWEET AND GENTLE... my big brown eyes will follow you. Are you my new family? Are you going to show me what a loving home is? I so want to have a wonderful life....I'm a little shy but I know you will teach me all about love and kindness. Boy, you must be very special!
