My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Zelda and I am a fabulous American Staffordshire Terrier mix, with maybe some pointer in me! I was born in September of 2005, I am mostly white with black spots with a gorgeous, expressive black and brindle face.

I was dumped along with two other dog friends in the streets and the nice people here at the Humane Society took us in. We were so scared and hungry and so thankful when they saved us.

The nice volunteers and staff here say that I am SUPER SWEET and SMART, know basic commands of "come", "stay", "sit", and "kennel" and that I am such a good girl. They have noticed that I am very nurturing with the younger dogs, am a "natural" mom to all the orphan puppies here and watch over them to make sure the other dogs don't hurt them.

I LOVE AFFECTION AND ATTENTION, and I try soooo hard to please. I am so happy when the volunteers come to play with me and we go for long walks. I so want to have my own home and family and to live inside with them.

I visited a family for a couple of weeks and I had such a good time. I followed them everywhere they went in the house and my tail was always wagging! I played with kids, snuggled for afternoon naps with an elderly aunt and even let their parrot groom me! I was a perfect house guest and they were so surprised that I was HOUSETRAINED! I always like to let people know when I want to go outside by going to the door. And, the people I spent a short time with said I am 'the perfect lady and they would be happy to provide a very good reference for me.

They tell me I am a GREAT DOG and there is a lucky family out there just for me. But at the end of the day when all of the volunteers and staff have left and I am alone in my kennel, I can't help but wonder if that day will ever come….Please, won't someone give me a chance at a new home, I promise to be your best friend and love you with all of my heart! I have so much love to give...and am running out of hope….
