Jenny - 7 year old female purebred Miniature Schnauzer. Jenny was brought to the shelter by her owners to be euthanized after she was diagnosed with bladder stones. Her owners said they could not afford to treat her, she was brought in dirty and matted. She is a sweet dog that was just down on her luck and out of time. We rescued her, cleaned her up and had surgery done on her to remove her stones. Jenny's surgery was 1/31/2007. She had seven large stone removed along with a dozen or more smaller pebble sized stones. The stones are
struvite stones. She has recovered very nicely. Her last urinalysis come out infection and bacteria free so she is finally ready to go home. Its been an uphill battle for little Jenny (she had come down with a pancretitis attack after being on Hills S/D dogfood for a month), but we finally found a diet that seems to work! She is on Hills W/D dogfood (which will run approximately $40/month).... she needs to stay on this diet for life and should be checked several times a year for urinary track infections, but other than that we are happy to say she seems perfectly healthy.
