My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jay....Cocker Spaniel 8 years young. He is one of the sweetest little guys - he just melts your heart.  Please  read about Jay and his needs. We are looking for a very special home for him. Jay has been through a lot the past year.  He lost his beloved owner to cancer and had a very hard time emotionally.  They did not have much, but they had each other.  When Jay came to us he had some medical issues that needed to be addressed. He was flea infested and as a result had a serious skin issue going on. He needed to be neutered,  He had very poor teeth (some missing) and an infection going on orally. He was under weight. He has luxating patella's (trick knees) but is doing fine and we have him on a joint supplement.  He had no "pep" or stamina from depression as well as not feeling well.  He also had an intestinal issue.  When we took him for some oral work due to the condition of his teeth and gums his jaw was fractured.  It was wired but sadly that came apart.  He underwent major surgery again to rewire and stabilize the jaw.  He is recovering very well from this second surgery. He has also built up his stamina and is getting some muscles in his hind quarters.  Health-wise with a bit more time and tender loving care he will continue to thrive..... He has a very serious separation issue and can NOT be crated or left home alone even for short periods of time.  Currently his foster mom has a "babysitter" for him where he stays while she works or goes out.  When you are with Jay he is a perfect, sweet. loving boy who loves to hang around the house with you, go for a ride in the car and go for short walks. He is playful but until his jaw is completely healed he has to be careful and can not play ball.  He is fine with other dogs and cats of a good temperament. He seems to get nervous around young children so we will not place him in a home with children under 12. Yes, it sounds like he's a disaster but he really isn't.  We have dealt with all of his issues and have made tremendous progress leaving the separation anxiety the problem.  He could easily go to work with someone.if possible but he will need a babysitter when he has to be left alone......  We would prefer to place him in a home where his new person will continue to take him to Dr Elson at Burnt Hills Vet Hospital as he has seen this fella trough so much and he can monitor the jaw..    Folks, this is a super nice dog who sure has been through way too much and needs to find his forever home.  If you are interested in Jay please contact Keeper Rescue at keeperrescue@gmail.com .  Jay has sure stolen all of our hearts and he might just be the love of your life <3
